From around 3AM on the 27th of March, sensors started picking up unknown aerosols in Serbia, starting from the NE direction and heading SW. A few hours later, sensors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia have all picked up very high levels of aerosols. Wind maps from the time seem to indicate that whatever these aerosols are, the wind is carrying them from the east to the west of the Balkans. Based on satellite data, we see that these are dust particles from the deserts in the middle east, that have travelled due to high winds all the way from Kazakhstan through Russia, Ukraine, Romania and made their way to the Balkans. Depending on wind patters, these may spread to other Balkan countries, so keep an eye on the pollution levels in AirCare, and act accordingly!
